I was a curious child

My parents always described me as an incredibly curious child. I asked a million questions and wanted to know about how the world works and why things are the way they are. That constant pursuit of learning and questioning is something I carried with me into consulting. Going from working on a massive retailer to diligencing a private equity target in satellite data kept me on my toes. One of the reasons I chose to join Advent Tech is the breadth of exposure. We look at everything from healthcare and cybersecurity to consumer tech and could go very deep in any one area for hundreds of sub-segments. If I’m not learning something new every day, then I know I'm doing something wrong.

Ownership is important to me

Private equity is all about ownership, and feeling like a true owner makes a huge difference to me. You see everything end-to-end from idea to impact which is incredibly powerful - few other careers offer that. And, because of Advent's collaborative environment, owning a deal doesn't mean you're on your own. You've also got the best and brightest minds to draw on. We've got an awesome standard of debate around here with partners that have been there and done it hundreds of times, so you can be sure you're making the best investments for the firm.

Strong culture is the key to our success

I feel very lucky that my prior company had an incredible culture both socially and professionally, but that set the standard high when I came to Advent. You spend so much of your time at work and with coworkers that having a supportive and collaborative environment can make or break your experience. Luckily, I've seen Advent's culture in action. Partners are incredibly welcoming and I already have a robust network of associate and VP mentors who I can go to for questions. We have fun too – pickleball tournaments and basketball competitions, sharing the latest Gen Y/Z, and going on trips. Because Advent Tech is still young, I also get to play a part in shaping its culture.

I'm excited to explore San Francisco

I grew up in Delaware and lived in Chicago for college and work before joining Advent Tech. Moving out to San Francisco was a big change for me, but I'm looking forward to exploring all the hikes in the area, getting into the music scene, and enjoying the weather in January when Chicago is below freezing. My sister used to live here but I never felt like I fully got to know the city just by visiting; I'm excited now to make this city my own.
